Introducing Edward...

So I have not updated this blog in a long, long time. Bold me. What's new, I here you not ask? I got a new job as a Graphic Designer, so that has taken up a lot of my time. It's a lot of large format print work, so I am learning loads, as up until now I was mostly a multimedia designer. I also got a kitten, as you can see from the pictures. His name is Edward. So been busy having fun with him.

I haven't been doing a lot of personal work, so I have signed up to Illustration Boot Camp with Adrienne Geoghegan. I'm really looking forward to it and hope I am not too rusty with the aul' drawing! I'll update with all the bits and bobs I'll be doing with the boot camp.

Presents...

Ok, so I haven't updated this blog in a long time. Just been very busy recently, I lost my job at Christmas, so I have been re-jigging my website and hope to launch the new site next week. Here are some designs I have been working on, first up a mothers day card for my, well, mother...

Next up, more work from my sister. This time she wanted to give people presents for birthdays and christenings. They have the childs name, date of birth, time of birth, weight at birth and also the date that they were christened. The photos are of poor quality, but my scanner went kaput, so they were taken with my very shakey hands...

Where to begin...

I have been really keeping myself busy these last few months. I work Mon-Wed as a Graphic Designer, then the rest of the week I am in the studio. I have a few projects on the go at the minute, from music videos to theatre productions to sewing.

I attended a great conference a couple of weeks ago - Craft in the Classroom, with the Craft Council of Ireland. So I am applying for one of their residencies to teach crafts in Primary schools. I hope I get it! It was a great day, really informative and we got to mess around with all sorts of stuff, from fabric to clay.

Another thing that is keeping my fidgety fingers is sewing. I am really trying to nail this discipline and you can see some of my projects below. I have been filling them with lavendar, so they smell nice and hope to sell them at markets and online.

The studio is doing great, we are really going to try and get people to come in and take a look over the next few weeks. So I'll keep you posted on that.

I've also been learning to drive, I know I am thirty years old and can't drive! It's been going great, have applied for my test, so should get the letter about that any day now.

Dresses to put in your knicker or sock drawer, filled with lavendar to keep everything smelling nice and fresh!

Where have I been...

Been very busy lately, so I have not found the time to update this site. As you are aware, I have set up Paper Lantern Studios. I also got a Graphic Design job Mon-Wed, so that has me kept busy too.

It was my nephews (Freddie) christening on Saturday. As he was born in the Chinese Year of the Golden Pig I painted him a picture (and one for his brother Sam).

Make and do...

You are not a real pirate until you make your own flag. Here is mine. My pirate name is Blood Thirsty Mo, and I made this flag for a trip on a cruiser down the river Shannon.

Halloween...

I know it's July, but I am in the process of digging out all my art stuff, as I am moving into a new studio. Amidst all this chaos I have found some gems that I totally forgot about.

Here is a Halloween costume I made a couple of years ago (I think it's three years, jeez I feel old now). Anyways, I was Satan's daughter for the night. Resplendent in my home made Hell High uniform. Below are some pics of the costume and close ups of some of the detailing.

Business Cards...

I finialised the design work on my business cards and they have gone to print! Myself and Anita wanted one side to have the details about the studio and the other a piece of our individual work. See mine below, also the original painting.

Busy bee...

I have been a very busy bee recently. Hence the lack of blog. So what have I been up to?

Well number one, I set-up an artists design studio with my good friend Anita Corcoran. It's a great building on Mill Street, Dublin 8. We have named it Paper Lantern Studios, there will be a full web journal from day one at our blog. Just waiting on the keys!

I have also gotten a two week internship working for CIRCA Art Magazine. I will be helping them out with the next issue of the magazine. All for free, but good experience for me, as I am trying to get back into the design world. That starts on 21st July.

So until then I am temping in office jobs and generally just waiting to get into the studio. I can't wait to dust off my canvases and take my sewing machine out of the box and get stuck in!
